The Honorable Anne Paulsen
State House, Room 22
Boston, MA 02133
Dear Representative Paulsen:
Thank you for introducing an amendment during budget debate this week to increase funding for the Alternative Housing Voucher Program (AHVP).
Unfortunately, the amendment's language was not included as part of the Housing / DTA consolidated amendment that the House passed earlier this week. Still, United Housing is pleased that the Ways and Means committee appropriated an additional $700,000 for the program in the House budget.
As you know, AHVP provides housing vouchers for disabled individuals who would otherwise be homeless or housed in inappropriate settings, such as emergency shelters, nursing homes, or in elderly housing. Increasing funding for AHVP remains the top legislative priority for United Housing, and we will continue to work for that as the Senate takes up the Fiscal Year 2006 budget next week.
Again, thank you for your support of AHVP and for introducing amendment 864.
United Housing looks forward to continuing to work with you on disability housing issues.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned Members of United Disability Housing Partnership
