The Honorable Lida E. Harkins
State House, Room 343
Boston, MA 02133-1054
Dear Representative Harkins,
Thank you for taking the time to meet with Mary Lou Maloney, Bill Allen, and myself yesterday. I know that this is an unusually busy time in the State House, and I appreciate your willingness to discuss our concerns about the lack of a single home for disability issues in the new committee structure. As we said yesterday during our meeting, the most important thing is to ensure that there is sufficient staff expertise on whatever committee will have jurisdiction over disability issues.
I have enclosed a copy of the letter that United Housing sent to both Speaker DiMasi and Senator Travaglini requesting a meeting on this matter. Speaker DiMasi's office was unable to meet with us, but David Friedman from the senate president's office will meet with a group from United Housing on Thursday, March 10.
Thank you again for all your help with this issue.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned Members of United Disability Housing Partnership
